Making an Effort Versus Experiencing Load

چکیده
In cognitive load theory (CLT), the role of different types is still under debate. Intrinsic (ICL) and germane (GCL) are assumed to be highly interlinked but provide perspectives. While ICL mirrors externally given task affordances which learners experience passively, resources invested by learner actively. Extraneous (ECL) also experienced passively. The distinction passively actively was inspired an investigation where we found differential effects a learning strategy training, in fact resulted reduced passive increased effort. This mirrored active forms for effort German language: “es war anstrengend” (it has been strenuous) vs. “ich habe mich angestrengt” (I exerted myself). two studies, analyzed whether could distinguish between these aspects using phrases how this relates three-partite concept CLT. instructional design included items into differentiated questionnaire. We factor structure stable, with item loading on GCL factor. conclude that it possible further research topic constructive, especially tasks act more self-regulated way characteristics taken account.

On Making an Effort
This paper is in the main a critical study of Robert Kane’s account of the nature of Free Choice. I begin by briefly describing Kane’s theory. I then consider four questions about a concept that is central to his account—viz., the concept of an Effort of Will. I argue that Kane’s position affords satisfactory answers to three of these questions. Reflection on the fourth and final question, howe...
متن کاملAn Agent-Based Best Effort Routing Technique for Load Balancing
Several best effort schemes (next-hop routing) are used to transport the data in the Internet. Some of them do not perform flexible route computations to cope up with the network dynamics. With the recent trends in programmable networks, mobile agent technology seems to support more flexible, adaptable and distributed mechanism for routing. In this paper, we propose a Mobile Agent based Routing...
متن کاملMaking an Effort to Listen: Mechanical Amplification in the Ear
The inner ear's performance is greatly enhanced by an active process defined by four features: amplification, frequency selectivity, compressive nonlinearity, and spontaneous otoacoustic emission. These characteristics emerge naturally if the mechanoelectrical transduction process operates near a dynamical instability, the Hopf bifurcation, whose mathematical properties account for specific asp...
متن کاملBest-Effort Versus Reservations Revisited
In this paper, we walk in the footsteps of the stimulating paper by Lee Breslau and Scott Shenker entitled “Best-effort vs. Reservations: A Simple Comparative Analysis”[1]. In fact, we finally follow their invitation to use their models as a starting point and extend them to reason about the very basic but still very much debated architectural issue whether quality of service (QoS) mechanisms l...
متن کاملVoluntary versus Enforced Team Effort
We present a model where each of two players chooses between remuneration based on either private or team effort. Although at least one of the players has the equilibrium strategy to choose private remuneration, we frequently observe both players to choose team remuneration in a series of laboratory experiments. This allows for high cooperation payoffs but also provides individual free-riding i...
